Growing up in Welkom as a miner boy, I was less than a model student, to put it gently. After my lacklustre educational efforts, a stint in the Army afforded me the drive and focus I needed to jump from a hydraulic fitter to a cell phone repair shop and finally a general maintenance contractor.

I moved to Pretoria in 2000 and have lived in Centurion since 2006 with my wife, two sons and a daughter.
